In the user control panel, after log in, in the left column you can manage subscriptions, bookmarks, drafts, attachments .

Please help :???:

1) subscriptions : i know already their purpose, but when a reply (in a topic you've subscribed) is posted, how are you warned ? by e-mail ?

2) what is a bookmark and its utilities ?

3) same for drafts

4) same for attachments

5) by the way, when you log in in the user control panel, there's a checkbox to log you in automatically at each visit to the Hub . I checked this box several times, it NEVER works .
Is it the same to you or is it a problem concerning only smartphone users ?

Thanks for your answers :^^:

Let's see...

re-1). Not sure... I just click the link in the upper left "New Posts" each visit, then check them all out as there are usually not many new posts between my visits.

re-2). Bookmarks work in that you can bookmark a certain topic, for future reference. I've never used them myself.

re-3). A draft would be a post that you choose to click "Save" on instead of "Submit". Best used if you're typing up a post, need to go away for a bit, but don't want to lose what you've typed and you aren't quite ready to post it instead.

re-4). Attachments... I think those are disabled, so it doesn't do anything anyways. But if they were not disabled, it would just show all the files you have attached across the forums.

re-5). Hmm, I see this option while at the log in page, but not after as you have described. I will test it on my android tablet. *moments later* It works for me, logging me in automatically each visit. When I first logged in, I was asked if I wanted to save my password, which I said yes to. Perhaps your browser is not saving your password?

Yes, i've already asked the browser to remember my password, and it works ( i've never had to type it), it's just that i have to "manually" log in at each visit .

Not a big concern, except that i log in often ... :???:

By the way, what is an"active" topic (next to 'new posts') ?

(and on my screen, 'new posts' is in the upper RIGHT ...)

As Travis had replied:
1) I just use the "New Posts" too.
2) Ditto
3) Yup.
4) Hey, I learned something new.
5) I never save password information, and other such things on a computer. Never have, never will. When I was taking computer classes some 30 years ago. The golden rule they taught us was to never write down a password or save it n a computer. It's to easy to for someone to get their hands on it. I just got into a good habit of always typing in my passwords for everything I use, including the forum and AoC. The downside is trying to remember some 30-50 different passwords but over the years I've developed tricks to help me out. So - getting back to your question. The bottom line is I don't know if it works or doesn't work for me.

Thanks for your clues ! ... But in fact, since my last post, i've found nearly all the answers i was looking for, concerning forum working & tricks .

So, for all newcomers who want to know more about this subject, and also for some of the old brigade like fodder or Travis (who don't seem to be too curious ... ), there's a marvellous little 'button' on the main screen named faq ! try it, it's useful !

-by the way, please, do you know what is an "active topic" ? (link in the upper right corner of the screen?) That is, if you use it, of course ...

Yes, I know this one. I use it too. :-)
Active topics are those topic in the forum that a player has posted to within a given time period. Not certain what the time period is set to. It could be something like 1 week or since the last time you read from that topic.
For example: If I click on "Active Topics" now. I see: (hold on while I do it.)
when I clicked on it, I think I counted 16 topics where a player had posted something new in that topic, going back to Jan. 24th, with this topic being at the top of the list since it's the most recent. Today is Jan 30th.

I just clicked on the "faq" as SangDragon suggested. I think I did this once some three years ago and haven't used it again until just now. It reminds me of when I was in college. When students would ask me to help them or explain something to them. I would always ask if they had read the manual to whatever it was they needed help with, before I helping them. This would give me an idea of how specific or general I needed to be with my reply. If I was busy and they had not read it. I would tell them to read the manual first and if they needed something explained after having read it, to come back and I would assist them. Perhaps as a moderator on the forum. I should ask players if they're read the "faq" before I help them.

Oops, yes I meant upper right, not upper left!

I think everything has been pretty much answered here. Have to say I have never read that FAQ though. It's silly because for other things I'm always asking people "did you read the FAQ yet?"

Ah another question, please :

Sometimes, to answer to someone's question, you quote one
part of the text by framing it in a rectangle of another color .
The title of the quote is always like : "SangDragon wrote .."

It's very useful !
Can i do that with only my smartphone ? (is it a functionnality of the Hub ?)

(for example, fodder has just used this feature at the start of his previous reply in this topic)

On the bottom right of an individual post, you should see the button "quote". If you click on that it will post that's person's post in a quote box in your post. If you see that button, then you can use it from a mobile device. Some time when I'm lazy, I'll just type in the formatting language for that button. Which is similar to HTML and looks like this, without the spacing:
[ q u o t e = " n a m e " ]
Cut and paste the text here you want in the quote box.
[ / q u o t e ]

You're welcome.
Although, I have to think you wrote that quote while  typing in your dream - or during a drunken stuper. :saufen:
