Here's some ideas (unordered) chanfan and me came up with:

1 multiplayer; i.e. several players (1-50) per map
2 one map where each player builds his/her own city
3 one big city where multiple players compete inside
4 become the dominant city on the map
5 destroy the other cities & become the dominant city
6 players represent the majors of a city
7 players are real estate agents
8 ...

So far chanfan and me prefer 1, 2, 5, 6.

please comment ...

I think I will have to agree with those options, they sound the best (of the option you have now)

option 3 if nice too.

instead of a city for each player, you can have one single big city. each player starts with some real estate available and start building their stuff. then they have some income (renting flats and/or commercial buildings), buy more terrain, build more.
make economic agreements with other players (maybe, building roads to connect their suburbs), trade stock options, give loans and so on.
buy buildings from other players (for example i want to create a big shopping centre, but your small house is in the way, so i'm forced to but it from you).

etc etc... i think one single city can cause much higher interaction...

anybody know the game x-com: apocalypse? (there used to be a free download on abandonia.com but not anymore.)

anyway: the idea of rivalry among different corporations in one megacity can be a nice option and its making diplomacy even more important if u have the city police or the hospital owner as a possible foe...

define "win the map" & "most important city builder". that's some of my thoughts too but I am not sure about the details and not sure if that's fun?

win the map:

drive your opponents into financial ruin

most important city builder (or however it will be called):

achieve victory by glorious achievments (highest skyscraper, build so and so many schools, best social network after a certain game time, stuff like that...)

i could also think of scenarios like in cesar or zeus, you have to survive sth or to acieve a certain goal (whichever player reaches a population/a police force power/an certain industrial or research output first will be the winner)

possible win situations (some if not all as above)

competitors run out of money
popularity (like wart wants) reaches set level
Beutifie the city - create parks, clean transport, nice buildings
obtain so much money
and last of all, run effective city over a period of time (say 95% movement over 5-10 years)

hmmmm. stig or aschi should move the posts about the winning situation to the "aim of the game" thread. maybe this thread here should be locked and aschi could use it like the "accepted features" section in the ao part of the forum :???:

aschi, can you do sth like a preliminary mind map, or is it too early?
i have the feeling that we are already beginning to post ideas more than one time. its getting a bit confusing.
it would be helpful, if we could see the possible ways the game can be taking and the several suggestions connected to these ways.

I am aware of that! I actually don't have much experience with mind maps. Should I use paper or is it a good idea to find an online tool so we can collaborate?

im not sure. a friend tried to explain the idea of a planned Xing to me and sent me sth close to a mindmap.
i think it was made with photoshop, but it should be possible w sth else as well... ill mail it to you.

its maybe enough if we can see what we were talking about so far. i dont think we need an online tool or sth.

i was wondering, if u change ao a tad so that it is more like diplomacy or axis and allies and then battle for the world. Shouldn't take that long....and also involves trade and other weapons/improvements....
