What do you think about adding a stalemate to the game?
For example 10 turns without any capture = Stalemate and game is 1)a draw or 2)finished with current positions.

It's an interesting idea? What do others think?

Hmm, could lead to some undesired results.

I believe that one part of the game is also to be able to manage a big empire, read the situation correctly and choose the right type of elections in a given situation :)

The second version of Stalemate (finishing on currect positions) is already kind of implemented and can be enforced by setting the maximum number of turns :)

The first version (draw) could be an option for elections in situations where 2 players each occupy more-less 50% of the map. But then the question is: why to miss an opportunity for one fair big war at the end? This is a war game in the end :)

I think never say die - submit or prevail. However, if the Gold prize could be split eg. 1,2,3 and wooden spoon then you would get some good and bad results. Some clans may work together to share winnings but also no incentive to drag out a game if you walk away with some winnings.

To split prizes differently is on my todo-list. I wonder though what would work best?

Maybe to let the game creator optionally specify 2nd and 3rd prizes?

Although I must say that I'm not in favor of this. I just understand that some people might be. I personally like the fact that everybody should always play and fight to be first. Playing with players who are just fighting to be in top3 is not that exciting for me.

That's how I play most games. I like the teamwork in the game more than win at all costs and don't mind 2nd (but fight hard if its less than that).
