I have completely failed to get people to sign up for the $1000 tourney. Pretty no one picked up the press release. From the few people that made it to the tourney page through Google advertisements etc., only a few signed up. I guess, no one was willing to download the game. The whole signup process was probably too difficult to grasp. Maybe people didn't think it's legit with all the other spam out there.

A free $1000 tournament and no one come. Actually, 62 have signed up to date. Probably around 70 by tournament start next weeks.

I decided to cancel all the ads that are still running. Doesn't do much good anyway.

The good news for the people that signed up: it's gonna be a manageable group of people competing for the $1000!

It ****!!! Sorry, just had to get rid of it... :|

When I signed up I think I was the 50th person to enter. I was pretty surprised at such a low number. $1000!!! Even some people playing AoC right now don't realize it's there I don't think.

I remember past tourneys getting several hundred signups. Not sure why this one isn't getting as high of a turn out.

Possibly because V3 only has the trial period? After that you can't join games, tournaments as well I imagine. So it might be attracting only new players where old players who have already lost trial have quit by now or are still playing turns but can't join?

The tournament is free, so you can join also after your account expires.

However, I think it's not very clear how to sign up for new players? I guess, I should have done the sign up page right on the tournament web page to simplify things.

Probably some other stuff that's wrong too.

1. not enuf time? hasn't it only been like 4 or 5 weeks since the tourney realm was opened?

2. i'm sure most of the mobile only users don't even know it exists... i'm sure, cuz i've asked. and they usually get confused when i try to explain the pc platform and the various realms, since the android version doesn't have realms

3. hundreds of peeps used to join the v2 tournerys - probably cuz v2 was free2play and quite popular becuz of that. but!!!! consider how many entrants were inactive when the tourneys started... 60-70%?!? more?!? i think at least in v3 the inactives should cut down to a much more competitive 10-20%. my opinion... better competition = better tournaments. gliding easily through the first round of the v2 tourneys was usually boring and unchallenging

4. speaking of time (and participation)... should we scale back May of Conquest to something more appropriate? at least for 2011? v3 is still in the 'infant' stages, perhaps we're trying to overdo it 6 months after release?

yes, in regards to May of Conquest, we might end up with the same problem! Moving it back to 2012 might be a good idea?

Opinions?

i have to agree... we haven't even made it out of the planning phase of MoC and it's the 2nd week of March already. there's defo not going to be enuf time for complete organization & worthwhile participation. even if we did a mini-MoC for this year, it only leaves us about 7 weeks to organize and 'advertise' :hilfe:

once inspiration has it's way with me, i'll email the committee... :partyyy:

If you want to push it back to 2012 that's fine. We could also do a mini-may-tourney and just scale it back to a couple of tournaments to help promotion next year's tourneyfest. I'll send email out later about one tourney idea that will fit this model.

OK, let's push it back to 2012!

However, the mini tournaments sound like a good idea. Like for v2, we could host a free every first Sunday Blitz (tourney) session? I would leave it up to you guys to organize.
